Default Lower placed riders go faster?

I read on a Reddit esports thread that in Kartrider, the riders who are behind are given a slight speed advantage. Is this true?

Yes. I don't know exactly how faster they go but because the players are so good, I don't know if that has even a slight advantage to them.

It's basically a skill mechanism I suppose. When pros fall behind, they can easily catch back up due to the higher speed.

I think it matters really big in league matches, for example the ace match of the finals of the last league when it came down to literally .005 seconds or something like that.

Yeah, in most racing games that ace match would've been impossible due to the lack of this. Crash=lose, No mistake=win in those games.

I always heard of this "pull" but never believed nor noticed it, nor payed attention to it.
It must be really really, really frigging small because I normally take notice of such things...
I find such mechanisms a poor design choice anyway, imho.

Anybody that's played or watched pros would understand that the choice is much better than not having it. At those levels, they literally don't make any mistakes besides crashing into each other. Not having it would also mean Kart > Skill in many cases, which is clearly bad for a game like Kart Rider. They've made a lot of poor choices, but this one is likely how the first PC racing hit will conquer problems nearly all of the current racing games deal with. Spectating a game with potential comebacks >>> spectating a game with less than 5~10% comeback.

Well, as long as it's not as bad as the AI speeding up and down in Mario Kart... that just sucks

The new drafting system that put in is a pretty nice addition IMHO.

I agree. I think they should've added the drafting system a long time ago actually. It's almost a whole new dimension of playing. But I do feel like Mario Kart's draft physics are better than KR's.

The pull mechanic is incredibly obvious if you're playing Guild vs Guild against a really good guild that is far ahead of you. It's almost uncontrollable how fast you go in that situation and is actually more of a hurt than it helps.

I can imagine that... at the already high speeds, it might make you mess up a cut at Finger or something...

It's the new feature available for 9 karts where if you're driving behind another kart within a certain distance, you get a draft effect and your kart goes slightly faster (like 15~20 kmph?)
