I don't think it's possible to have a best anything in this game.

Best Speed Racer: look on Nexon forums
Best Item Racer: Impossible to tell. Item mode is based on at least 70% luck, and probably more. There are people better than others, but there is no best.

Also, Item mode is a lot different that Flag mode, so for those people (you know who you are), don't even try to compare it with Item mode.

no offense to manj, but my team has beaten manj a couple times in even rooms.
even though item is based on luck, there are still things to consider such as strategy and when to use the item, its harder then most people think it is..
IMO KingCarbon14 is the best and if not the best, in the top.

No, it doesn't take much skill at all. I agree that it takes some skill, but only 30% at most, and most likely a lot less. The last 6 items of a race I've gotten was 6 WaterBombs in a row today, on Penguin Town too while I was only inches away from 1st.

Face it: even teams or not, it doesn't change a thing in Item mode. Sure, one team might win more than the other, but even the weaker team will win occasionally. A team is only as strong as its weakest link. And for singles, the amount of "skill" it requires become even less.

imo i think Item is skill you need to know when you use your items and need to know strategy. We should have a small competition i think

I never said it didn't take any skill. However, it doesn't take a lot of skill... that a Yellow Glove (and I don't mean fake newbies) beating a Starred Rainbow Glove is possible.

Yes, I'm aware of that. Gloves doesn't show skill, but shows experience. Let me put it this way: you get 1st place in a singles race (teams too), and then suddenly in the next race, you get 8th place (or last). Would you call that skill or luck?

My point being: skill isn't a big part of Item mode that it is almost insignificant. Why else can your rank drop or increase dramatically between games?

A lot of the 'skills' in item are learned fairly quickly. Like driving to the side to avoid water balloons, pressing left and right quickly to get out of one, and pressing up for a boost after a missile.

Most other stuff is related to strategy, which basically boils down to not wasting your items. It's not that hard to learn when the best times to use an item are.

Theoretically you could devise some pretty sophisticated team strategies,..... but I don't know of any pro item teams that are that organized yet.

Basically, Item skills are only gonna give you a small advantage. You could still lose.

Thank you. No matter how "skilled" you are, you cannot win without the items you need. For example: getting a useless UFO zapper when you're 2nd while the opposing team is 1st. If this was Popkart, what is really more annoying is getting the Suicide Time Bomb in those circumstances, and not being able to use it without hurting yourself.

If you want, I can think up of many other situations where skill doesn't play a part.

It doesn't always happen, but it happens quite a lot in Item mode when you suddenly get 8th place (or any other low ranking) after being 1st the previous game. Either way, you should get my point.

In NAKR I'm usually either first or second. In popkart, however, it's a lot more random. I go from first to last much more easily.

.... They're either more skilled or the items and stuff that you can buy just make it harder to stay ahead.

Even in NAKR, you cannot always gurantee 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place because Item mode is really random.

It depends what items other people get and who they choose to use it on. That is also another factor where it is pure luck: the chance of them choosing you as a target.

I've played plenty of games where I've gone from 1st to 8th (or any low rank) or retire within the 2 games, even with all the same players.

It depends on whether or not those other guys know how to use their items to get back to #1 aswell.

Besides, if you're talking about teams, then it's your team thats preventing the opposing team from stealing first from you. All you're really doing is shielding any attacks if possible, and winning the race, but really it's your teammates doing all the work if you've been first in a race for quite a while.

Even then, luck will still be the biggest factor.

Dont get me wrong, I love Item mode and play it quite often. But even so, the fact is Item mode takes a lot of luck and barely any skill. In my opinion, one of the perks of Item mode is it's more interesting, so I find it fun. Speed if fun too, but not as interesting is all.

Manj is right, item mode does take more luck then skill and the skills are basic skills, everything i know about item i learned when i was a green glove.
even though item is fun, its not the only thing in the game, you'd be surprised how much playing speed helps you in item,i started playing speed and i won in mesa alot more in item. i play a little speed but i suck compared to some of the ppl on this forum ^_^.
flag is fun as hell though, cant wait till it comes out to NAKR

Item game is really luck game. But if u r playing on team game, then maybe ur team has to get or prepare good items.
There are some pattern.
1st place: cloud, banana, shield
2~5th place: missile, water fly, water bomb, UFO breaker, UFO, turbo, magnet
6~8th place: water bomb, UFO breaker, angel, turbo, magnet
As i already said, item is luck! but when i play team game, i try to stay in 2~5th place.

item speed is about the best blockers..

1 racer 3 blockers on a team... 1st place all the time. :D
