Closed Beta:
A limited testing period of a new game before official release. Everything will be erased by the time is closes.

Open Beta:
A period of time where the game is officially release. It is new and nothing will be erased. It will keep going. Think of it like grand opening.

I don't know... I just made this up. But this is what I believe how it works. lol
