Double Boost

I've been working on my double boost lately and it's not really working out; I've pulled it just off a couple times out of my 73 billion tries D:

Tips..anyone?

I've watched some videos and I feel like I'm doing it correct, but the 2nd boost isn't coming. I figure I'm probably missing some key concept..or something ._.

How long do you press left/right + shift?
Do you hold it down for like a second?
Or do you just tap shift as if your typing a message?

EDIT: So, I just went on KR and practiced a little more in that map that serves as the final rookie liscense test, and I sort of found out what my problem was. I had been pressing "UP" for my 2nd boost too late. I tried pressing it earlier, before the 1st boost was even completely done, and it worked.

However, I'm still only pulling off my double boost 5-10% of the time. It seems less-optimized drifts are easier to double boost off, as opposed to your favorable optimal drift...

Yeah, so also.. It also seems the double boost seems to work best when I press left/right+shift right when my previous drift is about to end (right before the drift would end if I was doing a regular boost).

AND SO, is it normal that the 2nd boost can't be done unless you initiate it before the 1st boost is even finished?

Which "up"? You mean when i press up for my 1st boost, or for my drift..or what?

If you think about it of course its the 2nd and u have to do that in like 2seconds i've heard or just really fast...
