What do they mean when they say you gotta optimize your drift. What's that o.o and can anyone tell me how to do it?

Im not a pro with it but in tight races i sometimes implement it into my game from what ive heard about it so far.
It has something to do when your drifting, you dont let your skid marks over lap each other when doing regular turn drifts. I think they say it minimizes the speed you lose and makes you turn better. o_O

Very nice video. So basically, to optimize your drift, it's really just a shorter drift with less time spent turning the way your turning (if that makes any sense), and more time spent re-centering your character?
Also, the non-overlapping skid marks idea doesn't apply for U-turns, correct?

Yes, for u-turns, you want to hold shift for a good amount of time. So the lines are supposed to cross.

Think of it as drifting to a turn, and not around it. you should boost just as your kart gets around the corner and you should be facing the right direction. The more angle on your drift, the slower you will go. Doesn't apply for u-ies.

So you wouldn't recommend it for uturns? :P Thx

There's a different type of optimized drift for u-turns.

There's a different type of optimized drift for u-turns.
Can you elaborate on that?

Yes I like to know what to do on U-Turns too.

Can you explain a little. You must have the skid marks overlap right?

Yes, you hold shift as long as you can within the length of the drift.

Oh I see what you mean by overlapping, the back wheels lol I thought you guys meant the last lap O_O
I think ive did it once xD
wow thought there wasnt much to do cept drift regularly and boost O_O nooby me

It's ok I feel the same way. But I'm learning a lot thx to lots of nice forum members :)
Little pointers would just be to notice the angles of the drift. Start the drift earlier before you turn and don't hold the left/right directional arrow keys for too long.
